Kutumba Pooje
This is a historic event that has
taken place for the first time in Kodagu.
I do not recall an earlier occasion of coming together to perform
collectively.
Members of Cukkemane family of
Kodagu came together to perform the "Family Welfare Pooja" in
2015. It was a historic moment at the
premises of Sri Kalabhairava Temple
in Kakotuparambu on 3rd December 2015. More
than 100 members of our family had gathered and some of them had come from far
away places like Mumbai and Pune. Some
of the members were visiting Kakotuparambu for the first time. For some it was
such a wonderful moment in life seeing many new faces of their own family
members.
We performed various religious
rituals from Dec 3rd to 5th 2015 at C.S.Srikara's house in Kakotuparambu. After
the "Punyaha" in the morning of Dec.3rd at Srikara's house, the pooja started with
Sankalpa : Praying God in the name of all the family members for the smooth
performance of the various rituals.
Followed by invoking Lord Ganesha for his blessings. Ganapathi puje and Ganapathi Homa was
done. After this "Govu Puje"
was performed at the cattle shed of Srikara. Then the venue shifted to the
temple premises of Lord Kalabhairava.
Shatharudrabhishekha with Rudra parayana by a team of young purohits in
front of the Deity.
The sight of all the family
members with relatives and local Kodavas gathered at the temple was a
pleasure. The occasion was utilised to
honour Mandetira Family with "Phala taambula". The
Mandetira family was responsible for the migration of our forefather
Sankanna from Saravu in Dakshina Kannada district to Kakotuparambu at around
1750 A.D.
All had a sumptuous lunch at the
Samudaaya Bhavana near the temple.
Evening "Sri Satyanarayana Pooje" was done at
Srikara's house.
The second day started with "Ganahoma with Navagraha Pooje" at
Srikara's house. This was followed by
"Kalpoktha Lakshmi Narasimha Pooje",
"Naga Thambila" i.e. worshipping Moola Naaga, "Sri Venkataramana Mudipu Pooje" in the forenoon session. Evening "Sri Durga Pooje" was performed
at Srikara's house.
We witnessed on third day the "Naaga Thaamboola" i.e. Naaga
Prashne in connection with "Jeernodhara of Moola Naaga". The prashne involved almost all aspects of
our family problems and the "parihaara" have been suggested by the
Jois.
Sri Vishwanatha Jois did the Naaga Thaamboola with
assistance from Sri B.Rama Bhat.
